As you come to the end of 2024, it’s a great time to reflect, reset and recharge.
Science and religion tells us that great things happen when you reflect and your career is no different. Think about the career goals you nearly achieved. What got in the way? What can you do next time to ensure you achieve this goal?
The Reset button is there for a reason, therefore, be confident about resetting your goals. This time, I would suggest that you try a different approach. As an example, instead of setting a goal to do three activities, be confident to set reset it as two activities. After all, you are in control and this makes your career goal much more manageable.
Career planning is no mean feat; it’s a journey with twists and turns. There will be times when you feel like giving up. When this happens, it’s a sign that you need a recharge. By taking a break from your career planning activities, you will feel much more energized and determined to achieve your career goals.
Let’s step into quarter three with confidence and here are some activities you can consider:
1. Think of three interview questions you might be asked and prepare your response. Some examples include: How would you deal with a difficult customer? What would you do if your team is not meeting their performance target? Tell me about a time when you lead a project?
2. Read an autobiography: This can be inspiring as it offers you the opportunity to understand other people’s journey.
3. Do your careers vision board: This is a collection of pictures and images that represent your career goals and the life style you are aiming to achieve. The process can help provide focus and motivation.

Wishing you success for the new year.
